About Us
Coquitlam Ducks Volleyball Club is a youth female volleyball club. All coaches are certified NCCP Level 1 or higher volunteer coaches.
We hold open tryouts in December. We have 2-4 teams per age category (U13, U14, U15, U16, U17, U18 as well as U11&U12 training teams). We start practicing in Early January till Mid May, usually twice a week.
There is currently no league for volleyball clubs in British Columbia. However, our teams compete in 4-6 tourneys a season (Jan-May). Plus Provincial Championships and some teams will travel to National Championships in May.
Our club fee includes tournament fees, jerseys, provincial championship fee, insurance and volleyball BC membership, gym rental and warm up jersey. Travel costs are not included.
Practice locations vary, but most practices will be held at Elementary/High Schools in Coquitlam and at the Harry Jerome sports Centre in Burnaby.
The Coquitlam Ducks Volleyball Club was started nine years ago as a drop in volleyball opportunity for girls in Coquitlam. Since that time, the Club has grown to host 12 – 14 teams in any given year, and now consists of more that 150 female athletes, 20 coaches, and numerous volunteers and families that work together to create a unique atmosphere and life changing experiences at the Ducks.
The initial philosophy the Ducks Club developed during our drop-in sessions, was to provide female athletes with equal opportunities in sport and to provide a positive social experience. Within a few years, the Club rapidly developed and grew due the large increase in interest. In response to the increased interest, the Club began to alter its philosophy and create a structured system to facilitate the growth of volleyball and the club in the Tri-Cities. The structure that is in place today provides girls the opportunities to develop their skills and experience a team that is within their physical, technical and mental capability.
